A flock of 50 AMERICAN ROBINS [Merle d'Amérique] that descended on two ornamental crabapple trees. It wasn't long before every crabapple was consumed and the birds were eating cranberries and a dozen or so old apples that were cut and thrown out. Second-choice items were recently-purchased apples from the
kitchen and the fruits on the Highbush Cranberry [Viorne d'Amérique] bushes but they too were eventually consumed. This morning there are only 3 or 4 Robins, digging around in the snow looking for fallen highbush
cranberries.
