Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 03/18/2003

Number: 1

Since about March 18th the robins have been singing. There are large numbers of robins in this area. At any one time during the day you might see 20 to 30 robins on your lawn. With the weird weather we have had, quite often these robins are on, under or near the crab apple and mountain ash trees eating last year's berries or very close to house foundations eating worms, grubs or bugs. Last weekend we had a 2 day ice storm followed by 4 inches of snowfall on the 3rd day.
These robins are all very fat and continually chasing each other and singing.

PS I live about 500 feet away from Lake Huron so this area often has large numbers of birds resting before (spring) and after (fall) their trip across the lake.
