Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/12/2003

Number: 1

In w central Fl I have a few Monarchs all year long. Right now there are many caterpillars and very few leaves left! Palm Harbor is a very large unincorporated area between Clearwater and Tarpon Springs, W of Tampa. We are FLs most populated area, density 2nd to LA so are very proud of over 50 registered butterfly gardens. Tarpon Springs also has over 50. Our great District 8 (of the FL Federation of Garden Clubs) has over half the B. gardens in the whole state. Our parks have butterfly gardens. We have 89 schools with registered gardens. These teachers and their children learn about, then count butterflies for the NABA counts. Everyone is asking where to get more milkweed!
