While walking the trails at Pawnee Prairie Park (west side of town)yesterday I saw a Monarch. It was down by the creek in the riparian woodland, probably trying to gain some shelter from the extreme winds we have had yesterday and today! It believe it was a male because the veins in the wings looked very thin, but I did not get a positive I.D. because it was too far away. Also, as I was just about to get a good look, I got buzzed by a nesting Cooper's Hawk, which got my undivided attention!
