Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/18/2003

Number: 1

I saw a female monarch this afternoon while walking in a nearby field. Her wings were faded. She was flying just above the ground. It is really exciting to see a butterfly that was probably born last year in the northern US, overwintered in Mexico and is now back in the southern states. Skies were mostly sunny with light winds. Temp 80F.
