This sighting is a certain sighting. We had a couple of possible sightings about three weeks ago, but then we had a cold, windy snow storm. Rufous Hummingbirds were reported in Ketchikan an March 31,and it was shortly after that they were reported stalled by bad weather by Journey North. The two reports I got for Haines were right around that time, but the reporters didn't say anything until the students made a public presentation at the library yesterday. So we are unsure of the timing.
But the one we saw today is sure. It flew right up to the feeder in plain sight.
