Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 04/14/2003

Number: 1

JFK Middle School's Onyx Team was amazed after our 3 feet of snow melted to see the Daffodils had already bloomed under the snow! Right next to them were our tulips. On April 14, we saw our first red tulip. We believe they might have come out that weekend but it was our first sighting. Even though this was a crazy spring and we did lose our crocus, our garden is just beautiful. The colors of all our spring flowers are very bright and our tulips are receiving compliments from the entire town. We did notice that the stems of our flowers are much shorter this year and we think that might have something to do with the snow. We thought the flowers would be taller to reach for the sun but it seems to be the opposite. We need to do more research on this but would appreciate Journey North's help!
