The first monarch in Sidney, Iowa Spring of 2003 was sighted by two different third graders. On the afternoon of April 19th, shortly after it rained,they saw a new monarch butterfly. They couldn't tell if it was a female or male. It was near flowers in our cemetery. It was in the mid 60's.It was flying about four feet off of the ground.
