Barn Swallow (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/05/2003

Number: 1

A small group of about 4 barn swallows has returned to their established nesting sites in the roof overhang of a strip mall in suburban Kingston. I saw the birds for the first time this year flying around their old nesting locations this morning, May 5. Last year they returned on May 15. As time goes on, more birds may return to the site as there are usually about six or eight breeding pairs there every year.
