Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/07/2003

Number: 1

Last year they didn't show up at all although we had a Hummzinger
feeder out from mid-April on. In spring 2001 we had several sightings at the same Hummzinger feeder on May 9th and 10th.

This year we put up two feeders, a Perky Pet bottle type close to the bay window at the front of the house and the Hummzinger on the Maple tree where it always is. I was sitting on the front porch at dusk this evening (around 6:15pm) when I spotted a male Ruby Throat on the Perky Pet feeder. Then for about an hour we spotted both Hummers on both the Perky Pet and the Hummzinger. We of course changed the nectar ater dark so they'll have fresh in the morning.
