I have been trying to convert my standard suburban yard into a sanctuary for native plants and animals. I have replanted with approximately 90% native plants, put in a pond and waterfall, put out 13 bird feeders of various types, 4 bird houses of various types, 3 insect feeder/watering stations, 2 types of native bee blocks, and refused to use any chemicals in my yard. I hope my yard becomes a haven for nature, and an example to my neighbors of how they can live in harmony with nature and still have an attractive yard
