Our grade four partners reported to us that our tulips had finally emerged. What a surprise for us to find that the leaves on the tulips in our Journey North flower bed were the exact same as those of the adjacent tulips. This means that there are tulips in our bed but not our tulips!! In the fall, I had a few bulbs left over after the JN bed was planted so I planted them under the same conditions but in a more sheltered area: these tulips are just starting to emerge. How discouraging! The grade fours are going to dig up one of the JN bulbs to see what is happening to them.
