Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/11/2003

Number: 1

Many of our second graders observed monarch butterflies in their yards. They were flying and were orange and black with white spots on the wing tips.

We have discussed the differences between painted ladies and monarchs at
length. We looked at pictures. OUr students are sure. In addition, we (teachers) have seen milkweed leaves. We believe we are seeing monarchs.
