Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/17/2003

Number: 1

Hi My name is Mary Ellen Brosnihan. I am a first grade teacher at New Ludlow Elementary School in Worcester, Ma. One of my students, Bridget, spotted a female Adult Monarch at the Ty Cobb Little League Field, located on James Street in Worcester, around 11:00am on Saturday. It was flying near the woods, at the back edge of the field, where there is a muddy swampy area. It was a sunny day but cool. The field does have a cluster of milkweed plants located on one side of the field. We are hoping she has picked that area to lay her eggs. We made an announcement at our Rally Around The Flag this morning and received a round of applause from the entire school.
