Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/25/2003

Number: 1

A brightly colored healthy adult monarch was sighted today (around noon) at the Havenwoods Environmental Center in Milwaukee, WI. (NOTE that the lat. and long. are for this location). Brother-in-law Den was out cutting Buckthorn and noticed the lone individual moving about amongst the alien "garlic mustard" which is now in full bloom here in southeastern Wisconsin. The wings were in excellent condition and no tattering appeared. Temperatures were in the mid-70's and the wind was from the east --- coming off of Lake Michigan.
