Last year I saw my first milkweed on the 30th of May and it was already 10" tall with many eggs. I have been monitoring the same site and seen nothing. However across the road, where the maintainer dug into the edge a little too much, I now have 4 milkweed plants. Two are 6-1/2" tall and two are 2" tall. This is a shadier spot, but I think the maintainer disturbed the normal vegetation enough that this area, which is mostly black dirt now, is warmer than the other side of the road.
There are no eggs on the milkweed.
