Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/04/2003

Number: 1

we had our first sighting around the third week in may. (sorry i don't know the exact day we didn't relize there was a sight that track the ruby)within the next 3 weeks we found we had 35-40 of the little buggers. one of them appears to be tagged. this is her second year visiting us. she has a white tag on her leg that looks to be about 1 inch. long. is there a tagging program for the ruby? if so where do i find more info on it? i can't even guess at how many we will have by mid summer. it does appear that they are nesting closer to the house then in the past years as they are staying at the feeder much later in the evening then in the past. we see them out until it's to dark to see close to 9 pmi believe we are seeing some of the young as of yesterday as they appear to be larger than the mature ruby's still got the baby fat..
