Finally! I met my first monarch of 2003! Bright, fresh,young, frisky - it lifted from a nearby hayfield where it apparently was nectaring on clover.
Our milkweed is at least 6 leaves high and I've been patiently prowling our 30 acre meadow on monarch patrol. Really beginning to wonder how I could miss the color orange so easily! Seen black spicebush, yellow swallowtails, wonderful moths..... Who says Friday the 13th is unlucky!
