Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/24/2003

Number: 1

My wife saw a monarch on one of the butterfly bushes in the back yard this afternoon I saw a monarch last Saturday. Todays weather was warm and sunny with temps up to 90 F. Winds were light. The butterfly bushes are in full bloom, as well as the purple coneflowers We have had above normal rainfall and below normal temps during the first three weeks of June. Nectar sources are plentiful. Established milkweed has bloomed and the seeds I planted early this spring are growing. I am hopeful the monarchs will have a successful season in the Upper Midwest.
