We had 3 groups, with 16 counters total, who saw 2-0-7
for a total of 9 Monarchs. All of those were spotted
between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. I didn't get the names
or locations. Very few had seen any in Muskoka this
year until the count. Prior year total Monarchs were
1999 11
2000 28
2001 98
2002 10

Butteflies seemed late this year. A great day for it,
temp from 25-29C, wind variable and moderate. We had
the most counters we've had, at least 6 were capable
of leading a group, lots of nets, 32 species, a record

number for us (previous hi was 28 in 2001) Total
butterflies 797, compard with 903 in 2002.
