Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/16/2003

Number: 1

An adult monarch was observed feeding among the blooms of blueweed (viper's bugloss)yesterday in a field near Kingston. The monarch looked very new with strong coloration (no wing tatters)and was busily making its way among the wildflowers. I don't know if it was a first or second generation butterfly from the south or if it was among the first of the newly emerged individuals in this area. Nevertheless, it was alone in its quest to seek out a nourishing meal of nectar.
