Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/15/2003

Number: 1

I spotted a somewhat faded monarch this morning flitting around my two milkweed plants. I watched it for a few minutes because I knew it could not be feeding from these plants (no blossoms) and wondered if it might be laying eggs. It appeared to be simply landing for a moment and then flitting to a new spot. After about five minutes of this if eventually flew away. After examining the plants however, I was able to find a single egg on a lower leaf.
