I'm amazed at how different things are in the Northeast, after moving here from Minnesota. I didn't see my 1st monarch this year until July 25th. That's a full two months later than the date I'd typically see my first monarch in Minnesota. I wonder if it took 1 or 2 generations for the numbers to build enough that they'd finally be noticed. (After that date I've been seeing them occasionally, but far fewer than the number I see in MN in July. Lots of milkweed, too. I should be monitoring a site for Karen Oberhauser's study!
