Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/12/2003

Number: 1

We have seen several monarchs in our area in the past three days. It is very unusual to see monarchs here at this time of the year. We usually see them through the spring months, but as the weather warms they all head north. We have several milkweed plants in the outdoor classroom at our school and we have seen at least one or two there for the past three days. Two of these were males that seemed to be patrolling the milkweed plants. We have also seen several other lone monarchs in some of the places we check for wildflowers and other butterfly species.
