Signs of Fall

For about a week now there have been many reports of Ruby throated Hummingbirds beginning their fall southbound migration thru Texas. At school, RT's were visiting the feeders and nectar plants since Tuesday, after we had 75 mph winds from the north Monday afternoon things really picked up. One teacher was a tad late for a teacher's meeting Thursday morning because she just had to watch several RT's out her windows at sunup. After hurricane Claudette passed over the house a month ago, we will have to make something to hang feeders from now, not many limbs left. The storm Monday blew the flowers off most the nectar sources in the backyard ... like the scarlet salvia, so feeders are appropriate. The next four weeks are the big season for the annual RT Hummingbird migration along the middle of the Texas Gulf coast. The almost hurricane Erika brushed us to the south
