Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/16/2003

Number: 1

over the last two weeks, there have been five separate egg deposits on the small butterfly garden next to our residential house where we homeschool. The latest group of eggs has hatched and appears to have been the largest and possibly final implantation this year. We only have seven milkweed plants in their third year of growth and only three of them are tall/visible from any distance. We're amazed at how well this has worked, and have not found any eggs/caterpillars at several other larger (and more natural) habitat sites within several miles.
