Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/23/2003

Number: 1

I say one lone monarch near the Jack's Fork River above Alley Spring. It was wandering among the wildflowers. It is the only Monarch I have seen so far. I know that by the bridge downstream there is an area of milkweed but have never seen any monarchs in the area. It is an unusual and exciting site to see one. The tend to be more swallowtails. I also found a monarch caterpillar in my garden on a morning glory vine this morning as I was picking some tomatoes.
