We've had Monarchs flying through, mating and nectaring for the last two weeks here on Mount Magazine in Logan County, and I see them all along highways in Washington County, Franklin County, Madison County, and Johnson County. In our yard in Mount Magazine State Park, we have a milkweed patch that includes A. tuberosa and A. verticillata, and 25+ eggs have been located. Elsewhere in the park, the same thing is happening. Two monarchs were observed mating in the canopy of a hickory tree at 1800 hours on August 28. The most adults we have seen at one time is eight on one Liatris plant. In our area, they are utilizing ironweed, goldenrod, milkweed, thistle, sunflower, mint, and Liatris.
