One of our teachers lives in a rural area close to Sauk Centre and they have an old driveway that isn't being used with lots of trees along the drive. On this day, Aug 28th, she saw at least 300 monarchs roosting high in these trees all along this driveway. Then the next day we went back to the same spot and there were only about 50 monarchs roosting and flying between the trees. We were able to tag 5 of them. The rest were flying too high to reach. She went out on the following day and there were no monarchs at all!
