Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/30/2003

Number: 1

3:30 - 6:45p.m. 1 butterfly sighted at 5:30 clearly heading south. It roosted, facing south, without flashing, on a bare maple tree branch approximately 15' from the ground. Turned out not to be the final roosting site for the night - it took off 30 minutes after roosting heading SE. 3 butterflies were seen chasing each other in circles at 6:15. The 3 of them roosted (no flashing) together on the bare branch of a different maple tree, approximately 10' from the ground - all facing south.
