A huge monarch caterpillar was munching on common milkweed by our Visitors' Center garden. By the next day, all the milkweed leaves were gone, as was the caterpillar (hopefully it just crawled off and wasn't pecked to death by a bird...). This year is the first growing season for our planted milkweed, but we've had at least 6 monarch caterpillars on them this year!
