We have harvested 5 larvae from our schoolyard habitat. Two have hatched. We have one large male and a beautiful female. They will be released on Friday (and tagged if our kit arrives).
An additional female has been identified within just a couple blocks of our school. The remaining butterflies will be released, after hatching, at a "packing party" celebrating the send off of our symbolic monarchs as well.
Will continue to post as other are sighted.
By the way, the Monarch is our state insect. :)
Have a great day!
