Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/12/2003

Number: 1

I saw three monarchs today and not one of them was acting like it would migrate. One which was only a little more than a mile from my house was probably the one I saw yesterday in my garden. The other two were 15 miles away near the town of Mayville North Dakota which is 17 miles east and north of my home. Three in one day is close to the most I have seen in one day around here this year. They were all fresh bright looking ones. I suspect the continued mild weather will allow more late monarchs to hatch. So what happens to these late ones? September 9th is the latest I have seen monarchs before.
