(This was also posted on the unpave the way page)

Our first premigration migrant monarch butterfly was spotted in the TMI butterfly garden on September 6. This week Seth caught a migrating male monarch and we found a third instar larvae on the milkweed that we planted last year or the year before.

We have 200 monarch eggs from Monarchs In The Classroom that we are raising in our laboratory. We are worried about disease in our cages because our first chrisalids have turned black and no adults have emerged.

We plan to plant 10 more milkweed plants next week in our butterfly garden.

We plan to go to Garner State Park in October for Monarch Camp to study the main migration through central Texas.
