12:30 pm - a clear, blue sky, calm-no wind, about 80 degrees. I saw one bright, fresh-looking monarch enjoying the few blooms left on my butterfly bush flattened by hurricane Isabel. Yesterday we experienced 35-40 mph gusts of wind between noon and 7pm. Durham NC was on the downward western side of the spiraling storm. Our rain guage showed 2 inches of rain this morning.
