On Frdiay morning the day that our weather was being influenced by hurricane Isabel we were delighted in the arrival of our first Monarch butterfly coming out of its pupa. The children were very excited about watching and observing this new arrival in our classroom. The monarch stayed with us for most of the day. We were able to observe her wings and figuere out that she was a female. So the children decided to name her Isabel. We released her that afternoon and watched her fly due south. The children all waved good bye and wished her luck.
