WE spotted two Monarch butterflies outside our school, Cornwall Terrace Elem. School. They were enjoying the nectar from the butterfly bushes. They were both female. Wings were in good shape. Our school is currently "raising" Monarchs for a release this Friday!!! About 20 of the larva were found in fields and backyards on milkweed...about 20 are from larva we secured from Trexler Game Preserve for their release program last week...although NONE of the larva we got from them had emerged by the date of their release day. There should be about 30 Monarchs emerged by then!!! We only have 8 now, but lots of black chrysalids..so we expect about 25-35 emerged monarchs by Friday!!!
