Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/29/2003

Number: 1

I just found time to visit a traditional resting spot at Abilene Christian U this afternoon and found several thousand monarchs clustering in the pecan trees by the Admin building. I later visited a traditional spot in a pecan grove in Clyde and found none. Several I observed while I was on the way to Clyde today were flying straight into the wind. Wind is strong out of the E/SE.
Abilene is 180 mi west of Dallas and Clyde is 15 mi east of Abilene.
