On the University of Dallas campus, we have over 200 acres of wonderful, basically original bluestem prairie/post oak savannah woodland. For several years I have noticed monarchs using the post oaks as roosts for resting, and today,Oct. 2,partly cloudy, temp about 69-70 degrees F.very light breeze, I noted about 18-20 monarchs either resting, or flying down to rest about 1pm in a number of post and blackjack oak trees on a south facing slope. Our campus is essentially a lovely island surrounded by freeways and development.
