Friday, October 17th, 7pm... Sandhill Cranes landed in a plowed corn field across from our house for the night.. Saturday 10:45 am... after eating and resting, they took off in 4 batches. As each batch rose up, they began a tight circling motion. When all of them were in the circle, it looked like a bird tornado, they gathered into a V and headed south. This is our 3rd sighting of cranes this week with this group had over 30 cranes in it. The proximity to our house did not seem to bother them and we were able to get close enough to watch them through binoculars. What a BEAUTIFUL SIGHT!
