I tagged and released a monarch that I had raised from a caterpillar from my home in Willington CT on 9/27/03. ID # CAM 983. It was found in Westerly RI on 10/05/03. My sister in Stonington CT called me on 10/23/03 to tell me there was a picture of my tagged monarch in the local newspaper.Amazing.The article stated the butterfly originated in Willington CT.MINE! The stormy weather that we have been experiencing must have blown it a bit eastward instead of in a southerly direction...unless it was heading out over the ocean to join other masses of migrating monarchs.
