Yesterday I noticed 8 monarch caterpillars on one Tropical milkweed (Asclepias currasavica) plant in my yard. I had noticed lots of monarchs and queens nectaring on it the last few weeks, but hadn't looked at the plant up-close. The caterpillars are all of varying sizes. There are also 2 queen larvae. A few of the monarch larvae are large enough to form their chrysalis any day now.
Not sure what will happen with this cold front that has arrived here.
