On October 7 we planted 8 tulips at our meeting site on the south side of a building in Decorah, Iowa. All were planted upright according to planting instructions. Each child also took home 2 bulbs to plant there so that we could compare the emergence and blooming times of their various microclimates with our groupn site (some children live outside of town, on higher land; others live in town, which is in the Upper Iowa River Valley).Measurements and sketches were made of the bulbs before planting.
