A Journey North Tulip Garden Planted in Love & Saddness
On 11/20, 49 6th grade science students at Joelton Middle, planted over 50 Red Emperor tulips.The next glorious day 11/21, the same students planted over 50 more tulips in their experimental sites in loving memory and in honor of their beloved principal, Dr. Roanld C. Harris who had pasted on that morning at 4:30am from a brain tumor that had been discovered a week after school had started. As the students watered their newly planted tulips with their own tears of saddness they worked through some of their grief in the soil and place where Dr. Harris loved, Joelton Middle School. Dr. Harris was a champion educator/administator for a living classroom.
Next spring when the over 100 tulips bloom and announce Spring to the Joelton community a celebration of love will explode through the symbolism of the student's over 50 red (love) tulips. The celebration will be for a man that gave so much of himself to his staff, teac
