We did it! The weather cooperated and we were able to take our 34 3rd graders outside to plant their tulip bulbs. Each student planted their own bulb, and we planted 4 experiment bulbs as well. We had some excellent discussions about how to examine variables in an experiment, and how changing a variable could change the outcome of the experiment. In addition, each student was given a bulb to take home and plant. This should extend our discussions on experiment outcomes this spring.
