On a beautiful Friday morning, Nov. 21, between 8:30 and 10:00 AM (after waiting through weeks of delays due to rains and cold), the Lower School classes 1-4 joined with Carol Ann Margolis, Educator from Albany Visitors Center, and Kenwood Convent Activities staff (Rhonda & Julia) to plant appproximately 500 Red Emperor tulip bulbs around the fountain area in front of the historic Kenwood Convent. Everyone got very muddy, and many worms were planted with the bulbs. Each class had a task: diggers, bulb planters, measurers, and coverers.
Another site in Our Lady's Grotto was planted with 300 Red Emperors by Activities staffers (Chris & Julia) Tuesday Nov. 18th. On Monday, Nov. 24, approx. 200 reds were planted by Grounds staff in a planter near the fountain and up near our cemetary. This makes a total of 1000 Red Emperors in the ground. Today Dec. 1, we are seeing snow squalls, and hoping our bulbs are feeling snug.
