Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 01/20/2004

Number: 1

A walk around the school butterfly garden at about 8:30 a.m. on a cold yet sunny morning found a large male Monarch landing on and flying around the Milkweed that is still in bloom. My first graders were extremely excited. We left two chrysalis in the classroom over Christmas break. The children came back to news that the butterflies had emerged and I released them. This year it seems we have had Monarchs year round.
