Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 01/28/2004

Number: 1

Jan 28th, when the temperature was about minus 18C and about 3 inches of
snow on the ground and a brisk north breeze making the windchill feel like
it was in the minus 30s, Phyl and I were driving downtown here in Stirling.
Lighting on the road about 25 meters in front of our car was a bird which I
instinctively thought I recognized. And as we approached it flew to a
nearby leafless tree ... a robin ... about half a block from our home.

I suspect, although I don't know, that it may be the same robin we saw back
in November. In any event, Stirling has an overwintering robin . The
weather is supposed to moderate in the next few days so hopefully the poor
thing will be able to survive until spring. (A Northern Observation Post)
