While checking our tulip garden for emerging bulbs, we found three earthworms (one large, two small) sunning themselves on top of the soil. Our soil temperature was around 32 degrees F for much of January. We were pleasantly surprised to find the soil temperature reached 37 degrees (7 inches below surface) on the day of our observation. The air temperature was 44 degrees F.
