Yesterday was the first sunny day we'd had for 7 days. The
temperature has been in the mid 30s and the snow cover is gradually but
slowly disappearing. The robin was on the ground checking the condition
of the earth--generally about a half an inch of thawed ground, frozen
below that. He/she sat on the ground for a couple of minutes, then flew
to the fence nearby. I listened for a song, but heard nothing.
